Live Activities with FITIV Pulse on iOS

Live Activities are one of the most exciting new features of iOS 16, allowing users to multitask on their iPhones in a way that has never been possible before. iPhone users will be able to use Live Activities to keep an eye on the content of their apps directly from their phone’s Lock Screen. While this feature can be helpful for many different types of apps, Live Activities are especially useful for workouts. Workout tracking involves keeping a close eye on your data. Prior to iOS 16locking your phone would hide your data. With Live Activities this data can always be available.

What are Live Activities?

FITIV Pulse now supports Live Activities, allowing users to multitask while keeping their heart rate data and workout metrics consistently available. Start a workout with FITIV Pulse to access this feature. Starting a workout on Apple Watch will automatically stream to the iPhone. Open FITIV Pulse on your phone to see this data.

When the FITIV Pulse app is active and the iPhone screen is locked you will see a tile on the Lock Screen containing your live workout information. FITIV Pulse Live Activities follow the metrics that you choose to display in the app, meaning that the data you see can be customized according to your workout goals. Simply tap the metrics on the streamed workout to edit what you see on your Lock Screen.

Who can use Live Activities?

Live Activities are available for users running iOS 16.1 and FITIV Pulse version 7.1.0. iOS 16.1 will be available for download on October 25, 2022. iOS 16.1 requires users to have an iPhone 8 Plus or a newer model.

What is the Dynamic Island?

The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max have another new feature uniquely suited for workout tracking: the Dynamic Island. The Dynamic Island gives you a unique way to multitask on iOS. When apps are active in the background on your iPhone the Dynamic Island will adapt to show information from that app. This makes multitasking easier. Exiting your workout app won’t hide your heart rate data. Instead, it will be available at the top of your phone screen at all times.

The Dynamic Island also gives you a simple way of getting back to your workout. Tap on the island to open the app directly. When you’re working out this kind of easy access can be a game-changer.
