Whether you’re faced with Covid-19 quarantines, your children’s school closures, or just want to avoid the germ-ridden gym for a little while, it can be tough to schedule yourself to work in a workout. How do you workout when you can’t leave your house? Is your fitness going to take a hit?
Here at FITIV we believe that health and fitness should always be a part of your priorities, and FITIV can help you make sure that you’re not losing progress toward your goals while still taking steps to keep healthy and safe.
Even if you aren’t subject to quarantines gyms can be breeding grounds for bacteria and viruses. With many people in close quarters in sometimes unsanitary conditions, it’s often a good idea to skip the gym when you see people around you getting sick. That, however, doesn’t mean you should skip working out all together. Here are some ways to get your heart rate up without stepping foot in the gym:
Running/Jogging/Cycling
While your gym might be out of the question, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get outside.
Weather permitting, a run or bike ride is a great way to get some exercise and fresh air at the same time. Exercise outdoors can boost your immune system, help you get some fresh air, and help keep you from getting stir crazy when you’re stuck indoors.
As long as you’re feeling healthy and the roads are clear strap on a heart rate monitor or Apple Watch, get out there, and get moving. There is no time like the present!
Workout Equipment
Do you have an old elliptical or stationary bike in the garage that’s just taking up space? There’s no time like the present to break it out and start using it.
While working out on a piece of equipment at home may not be as motivating as a spin class, with the right music and motivation you can get a killer workout at home.
Bodyweight Exercises
No equipment? No problem. There are loads of ways to strengthen your body with no equipment at all.
Pushups, pull-ups, squats, sit-ups … Think back your your days in high school PE. What basic strength training and bodyweight exercises do you remember? Maybe this is a great time to check out a Tabata routine like the 7-Minute-Workout to maximize your health gains in minimal time.
The easiest way to make sure that you’re working out hard enough at home is by using an app like FITIV Pulse.
